Introducing My British Butterfly Illustration Collection
British butterflies are among our most beautiful and recognisable insects, yet many species are becoming increasingly rare as their habitats change. Inspired by their incredible diversity and the stories they tell about our landscapes, I’ve started an ambitious long-term project to illustrate every resident butterfly species found in Britain.
The collection begins with four iconic butterflies: the brilliant Adonis Blue, the familiar Small Tortoiseshell, the elusive Brown Hairstreak, and Britain’s largest butterfly, the magnificent Swallowtail. Each illustration is created with a textured, hand-painted style, balancing artistic interpretation with careful observation.
As the collection grows, I hope to explore more than just the butterflies themselves. I’ll also be illustrating the plants they depend on, the habitats they inhabit, and the ecological relationships that connect them to the wider natural world.
Whether you’re interested in British wildlife, butterfly conservation, or nature-inspired art, I hope you’ll enjoy following the collection as it develops.
